This stitch sampler was an opportunity to try out lots of new stitches within the colour palette of the rest of the module.
Module1 - Linear Stitches Sample
My designs for Module 1 were original, based on inspirations from my studied artist, in this case Benedetta Cappa, an Italian Futurist artist.
Module 3 - Cross Stitch
This was a piece of cross stitch based on my inspirational artist, in this case, 'Takashi Beach, Izumi Province' by Ando Hiroshige.
Module 3 - Blackwork Piece
This was a piece of blackwork based on my inspirational artist, in this case, 'Takashi Beach, Izumi Province' by Ando Hiroshige.
Module 4 - Reverse Applique Sample
This was an example of reverse applique based on the stitch sampler from Module 1, where I cut away layers of fabric to reveal other patterned layers underneath.
Module 5 - Hardanger Piece
This was a piece of Hardanger with a design adapted from an existing one I found on the internet and some embellishments added.
Module 5 - Smocking Piece
I used traditional gingham fabric with a variety of coloured threads to create the smocking pattern photographed here.
Module 7 - Quilted Sample
This quilted sample was constructed from fabric remnants and sewn together on a sewing machine.
Module 7 - Tassels and Cords
This is a selection of some of the best tassels, buttons and cords made as part of this module of the course.
